Extending the status objects create through the way you use them
A role reversal of an object giving subject status, where how the subject uses the object becomes more important than purely owning that object. This may have to do with intentional ‘misuse’, I’m not entirely sure yet [not misuse to break or destroy].
It’s cooler to have a Lamborghini and drive it in the snow to the Alps with a roof box than to have a pristine, valeted and polished machine which is used for no more than parking in front of hotels and the occasional burnout on Regents Street.
(Tax The Rich Youtube channel - maybe for different reasons but a similar concept)
Simply buying status is very different than ‘using” it. Take an iPhone - a relatively accessible item of status. Is it cooler with a chipped corner and some scratches or covered in cheap adhesive protectors?
